Role overview
Senior Product Manager (Platform) — individual contributor responsible for evolving Kin’s core platform. Own multi-year platform strategy, partner with engineering and business leadership, and mentor other product managers.
Key responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term platform strategy for policy administration, billing systems, and payments; translate business goals into a clear, sequenced roadmap.
- Act as the primary product voice for the platform with engineering, architecture, and senior leadership.
- Lead discovery and solve complex, ambiguous platform problems by defining the right problem and validating decisions with data and user research.
- Own the platform API strategy.
- Drive solutions from early prototype through full production rollout.
- Lead platform modernization/re-platforming initiatives, including sequencing migrations without disrupting dependent teams.
- Manage key vendor relationships (e.g., payment processors, policy administration vendors, third-party data providers).
- Mentor and elevate other product managers on the team.
Requirements
- Proven ownership of platform or infrastructure products in a fintech/insurtech (or similarly regulated) financial services company.
- Vendor management experience with payment processors, policy administration vendors, or third-party data providers.
- Strong written and verbal communication for both technical and executive audiences.
- Technical fluency to participate effectively in architecture discussions and understand implications for reliability, scalability, and security.
- Experience leading platform modernization/re-platforming with careful migration sequencing.
- 10+ years professional experience, including 7+ years in software product management.
- Exposure to regulatory and compliance frameworks in financial services.
- Experience in homeowners/property & casualty/specialty insurance.
- Deep familiarity with insurance policy administration, billing platforms, or payment infrastructure.
