About the role

Role Overview

Senior Product Manager for an edtech startup (hands-on individual contributor) working with the Head of Product & Design. Own product discovery, prioritization, requirements, stakeholder alignment, and delivery for one or more platform areas.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the executive team on the product roadmap for assigned platform areas
Write clear, self-contained PRDs and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can execute without ambiguity
Translate leadership strategy into scoped, buildable features
Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and ticket triage with the VP of Engineering
Conduct discovery through user interviews, competitive research, and stakeholder feedback synthesis
Define and track success metrics for shipped features
Partner with designers to ensure clear, complete design handoffs (specs ready for engineering)
Represent the product perspective in sales conversations and partner demos

Key Deliverables

Well-scoped PRDs and feature specs
Maintained and prioritized backlog with clear acceptance criteria
Documented discovery findings and decision logs
An updated roadmap aligned to current business priorities
Measurable outcomes tied to features shipped

Required Qualifications

5+ years of product management experience (preferably at an early-stage startup)
Ability to own a product area end-to-end (problem definition → launch → iteration)
Strong written communication skills (requirements that stand alone)
Comfortable working directly with engineers, including remote/offshore teams
Fluent in Figma to review designs, provide structured feedback, and understand handoff specs
Experienced using AI tools (especially Claude) to accelerate discovery, drafting, and prototyping workflows
Ability to operate in ambiguity and context-switch between strategy and execution

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with ESA / school choice / scholarship program infrastructure
Experience in edtech, govtech, fintech, or marketplace platforms
Experience with payment or compliance-heavy products (e.g., Stripe Connect, income verification flows, audit trails)
Experience working with state or government agency stakeholders
