About the role

Role Overview

As a Senior Product Manager at BusRight, you will connect the voice of the customer with the engineering team, ensuring product decisions align with the company’s mission and values. You’ll collaborate across sales, engineering, product, design, and strategy to help tell the product story through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the “connective tissue” across functional teams (sales, engineering, product, design, strategy).
  • Define and communicate the “why” behind product decisions using implications from product data.
  • Track product engagement and performance metrics and translate them into actionable direction.
  • Enable customer engagement through:
    • focus groups
    • Design Partner conversations
    • Early Access programs
  • Mentor and support Engineering when needed, including coding proofs of concept and designing use cases for testing.
  • Own foundational platform capabilities that support BusRight’s multi-product suite and scale to higher-scale partners.

Platform Domain Ownership (examples from Year 1)

Users & Permissions

  • Own identity and access model end-to-end.
  • Define roles, permissions, and access controls across the multi-product suite.
  • Build a scalable framework as customer complexity grows.

SIS Integrations

  • Lead product strategy and execution for the Student Information System (SIS) integration layer.
  • Own the experience for connecting to district systems via API and SFTP-based data exchange.
  • Ensure reliable, accurate, and timely data synchronization.
  • Work with customers and implementation partners to gather requirements and translate them into repeatable solutions.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Define and drive the reporting product.
  • Identify the metrics and data points that matter to different user roles (e.g., district administrators, transportation directors).
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to build reporting experiences that are actionable, accessible, and trustworthy.
  • Balance self-serve flexibility with opinionated defaults.

Day-to-Day

  • Own product roadmap areas and collaborate with Product peers.
  • Lead and participate in agile ceremonies to support clear communication, collaboration, and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Not explicitly stated in the provided text.
