Senior Product Manager - Algorithmic Trading

Role overview

Kraken is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the Algorithmic Execution & Strategy Engine, the platform powering complex order types, smart execution algorithms, and programmable strategy construction for professional and institutional trading. The role focuses on porting best-in-class TradFi execution capabilities into crypto for both human traders and AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the multi-year roadmap for Kraken’s Algorithmic Execution & Strategy Engine, aligning with institutional and pro-trading growth.
• Design and deliver execution algorithms, including:
  • TWAP, VWAP
  • Implementation Shortfall
  • Participation, scaled orders
  • Conditional order flows
• Build the strategy construction interface (programmable layer) that enables institutions to compose, test, and deploy execution strategies without writing code.
• Own API and FIX protocol specifications for programmatic access; partner with engineering and client solutions to deliver low-latency, high-reliability access.
• Define TCA (Transaction Cost Analysis) and execution quality frameworks; work with data science to instrument, measure, and continuously improve performance.
• Establish an agentic integration framework so AI trading agents can interact safely with Kraken’s execution infrastructure.
• Partner with Quant Research and Engineering to evaluate and integrate ML/AI-driven enhancements, such as adaptive routing and predictive scheduling.
• Work directly with institutional clients, prime brokerage relationships, and professional traders to gather execution needs and translate them into product requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years in electronic trading or algorithmic trading (e.g., investment bank e-trading desk, HFT firm, quant hedge fund, or equivalent).
• Proven execution algorithms domain expertise: TWAP, VWAP, Implementation Shortfall, POV (Percentage of Volume), and smart order routing logic.
• Experience with FIX and electronic trading execution concepts, including understanding why basis points matter.

Nice-to-haves (implied)

• Experience shipping execution algos in Tier 1 financial institutions or algorithmic trading firms.
• Familiarity with ML/AI enhancements for execution workflows (adaptive routing, predictive scheduling) and AI/agent integration patterns.
