About the role

Role overview

As a Senior Product Engineer (Product Platform) at Replit, you’ll build and scale foundational platform systems powering Replit’s core developer experiences. You’ll lead cross-team initiatives, create reusable Agent primitives, and tackle high-impact technical bottlenecks across performance, reliability, correctness, abuse prevention, and observability.

Key responsibilities

Lead major cross-team platform initiatives from 0 → 1 and scale systems to support millions of users
Build shared, extensible Agent primitives that Replit Agent can reuse safely and consistently
Identify and solve highest-leverage bottlenecks (performance, reliability, correctness, abuse, observability)
Work closely with product, engineering, design, product management, and go-to-market partners to deliver foundational capabilities

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong product judgment balancing UX, speed, correctness, and long-term maintainability
Experience with modern web stack: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Postgres
Understanding of the agentic software development stack (building, testing, and reviewing correct code)
Experience operating and scaling production systems (reliability, performance, incidents, on-call readiness)
Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects
Experience building platform systems that other teams depend on
Comfort working at a high engineering bar (or shipping quickly in a fast-growing startup without sacrificing quality)
Experience with platform/distributed systems patterns: queues, workflows, caching, rate limiting, async processing
