About the role

Role overview

Join Ashby as a Senior Product Engineer. You’ll own a significant portion of the product and manage projects end-to-end, from inception through completion.

Responsibilities

Own a key portion of the product and drive projects from start to finish
Conduct competitor research to inform product decisions
Write product specifications and create wireframes
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers and Designers to deliver features
Implement solutions across the stack (including building reusable building blocks)
Balance speed vs. quality and deliver high-impact features with urgency
Communicate clearly with stakeholders and keep them updated as needed

Requirements

Versatile product engineering mindset; able to work across frontend and backend
Experience tackling projects with product and technical ambiguity
Ability to build powerful abstractions rather than just CRUD-style features
Strong collaboration and communication skills; open to feedback
Demonstrated ability to automate/abstract tedious work to increase leverage
Comfortable vetting decisions with stakeholders and coordinating with other engineers

Nice-to-haves

Experience creating systems that help support/debug and prevent common bugs (e.g., linting, tooling)
Comfort working across any part of the technology stack
A love of typed languages
