Senior Product Designer

Role Overview

Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) Modern Family Law is seeking a Senior Product Designer to improve the user experience of its client-facing legal technology platform. The product is already in use, and this role focuses on reducing friction, optimizing workflows, and designing intuitive experiences for clients navigating complex family law matters.

Responsibilities

User Experience & Research

• Analyze user behavior to identify friction points across the client journey
• Conduct usability testing and user research to uncover pain points and improvement opportunities
• Review support requests, customer feedback, and product usage patterns to diagnose UX issues
• Create user journeys, process maps, wireframes, and prototypes
• Simplify complex workflows and improve task completion rates

Product Design

• Design new features from concept through implementation
• Improve existing workflows including:
  • Onboarding
  • Authentication
  • Task management
  • Payments
  • Document uploads
  • Client communications
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to translate business requirements into user-centered solutions
• Produce high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes in Figma

Design Systems & Scalability

• Establish and maintain a scalable design system
• Create reusable design patterns and components
• Ensure consistency across the product experience
• Define UX standards and best practices for future development

Analytics & Optimization

• Define and track UX success metrics
• Partner with Product and Engineering to implement analytics and user behavior tracking
• Identify drop-off points and opportunities to improve conversion
• Use data and user feedback to drive design decisions

Collaboration

• Work closely with attorneys, legal staff, operations leaders, product stakeholders, and engineering to understand client needs and business workflows
• Translate complex legal/operational processes into clear, user-friendly product experiences

Success Measures (First 6–12 Months)

• Improve usability of key client workflows
• Reduce user confusion and support requests
• Increase completion rates for onboarding and client tasks
• Improve payment and document submission experiences
• Establish a framework for measuring UX effectiveness
• Create scalable design standards for product growth

• Professional communication and ability to work effectively with internal teams, leadership, attorneys, support staff, and external partners
• Proactive self-starter who can operate independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, organization, and follow-through
• Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical efficiency improvements
• Flexibility and responsiveness to change
