About the role
Role
Senior Product Designer – Internal Tools & Platform (12-month contract) Remote, US-based
Join a team shaping a Release Platform—a “single pane of glass” for planning, executing, monitoring, and improving the software release and deployment lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end UX for how teams manage releases and deployments.
- Simplify complex operational/technical workflows into intuitive product flows.
- Design for visibility, control, confidence, and accountability across the release lifecycle.
- Create workflows/patterns for:
- release readiness
- change review
- deployment tracking & rollout status
- incident awareness
- rollback support
- Partner with engineering to translate existing platform capabilities into usable product experiences.
- Identify confusing, fragmented, manual workflows and propose scalable improvements.
- Develop a coherent interaction model and visual language for the internal platform.
- Produce wireframes, polished mocks, prototypes, and UX recommendations for iterative implementation.
What success looks like
- Teams can quickly understand release state without stitching together multiple tools.
- Core release workflows become easier to learn, faster to use, and more reliable under pressure.
- The platform feels cohesive and opinionated, not operationally fragmented.
- Engineers and release stakeholders gain better confidence and change visibility.
Requirements (Must-have)
- Experience designing internal tools / enterprise platforms.
- Workflow-heavy UX design experience for operational platforms.
- Understanding of release/deployment and operational workflows.
- Ability to design dense technical dashboards.
- Strong capability with Figma.
Nice to have
- React knowledge.
- Exposure to DevEx / Infrastructure / Reliability tooling.
- Observability platform experience.
- Incident-management UX experience.
- Platform strategy / product thinking.
- Experience designing permissions/states/risk-based workflows.
- Experience with Lit-Element (mentioned in skills/tech list).
Ideal background
- Strong track record designing internal tools, enterprise products, or operational workflows.
- Systems thinking and information architecture skills.
- Ability to make complex systems simple while preserving critical detail.
- Comfort working with engineers on ambiguous, early-stage product/platform problems.
