About the role
Role overview
Senior Product Designer to own end-to-end design for a new Procurement module for Gigawatt’s AI platform. You’ll shape the product from a blank page, turning complex procurement workflows and dense data into clear, usable experiences across multiple user roles.
About the module
- Procurement is how utilities buy everything needed to run the grid (equipment, software, and field crews)
- High-stakes, capital-heavy spend with long lead times and heavy regulator visibility
- Replaces fragmented, aging tools with one unified view, exception handling, and AI-assisted workflows
What you’ll do
- Own product design end-to-end for the Procurement module (flows, interaction, logic, and UI)
- Design for distinct roles: requestors, buyers, category managers, supplier/compliance teams, and executives
- Make dense data legible (spend views, exception queues, supplier risk, category breakdowns)
- Partner with product and engineering to scope what ships and ship in increments
- Extend design system patterns so the module feels integrated with the rest of the platform
- Run lightweight research and prototype playbacks with real utility operators; incorporate learnings
- In the first 90 days:
- Get fluent in how utilities buy via existing plans and stakeholder sessions
- Map core flows and role handoffs; identify design moments that matter most
- Identify where AI can help (drafting requests, surfacing contracts/suppliers, plain-language answers)
- Ship a clickable prototype of first user flows to test with operators
Requirements
- 6–7+ years designing software products with senior-level ownership of complex, end-to-end work
- Experience with data-heavy and/or workflow-heavy products (dashboards, tools, or enterprise software—not just marketing sites)
- Strong interaction design and UI craft
- Ability to take messy domains to shipped screens; make complex things simple and explain decisions clearly
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and partnering closely with product and engineering
- Open to building with AI as the primary way you design
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated industries, or utilities/energy/finance
- Comfort designing AI features (assistants, recommendations, agentic workflows)
- Experience building AI features
Design craft focus
- Interaction and flow design across multiple roles
- Information design for dense, calm interfaces
- Visual/UI hierarchy and consistency
- Fast prototyping and feedback loops
- Design-system thinking with reusable patterns
- Clear written and verbal communication of decisions
