About the role
Role Overview
Senior Product Designer for the Procurement module on Gigawatt’s AI platform. You’ll own end-to-end product design from a blank page, designing flows, interaction, logic, and UI for multiple user roles.
What You’ll Do
- Own product design for the Procurement module end to end: flows, interaction, logic, and UI.
- Turn a complex, unfamiliar procurement domain into clear, usable experiences for non-technical users.
- Design for distinct roles:
- requestors
- buyers
- category managers
- supplier and compliance teams
- executives
- Make dense, high-stakes data legible, including:
- spend views
- exception queues
- supplier risk
- category breakdowns
- Partner with product and engineering to scope, ship, and deliver the module in increments.
- Extend and build patterns in Gigawatt’s design system so the module feels consistent with the rest of the platform.
- Run lightweight research and prototype playbacks with real utility operators; incorporate findings back into the product.
First 90 Days
- Get fluent in how utilities buy by reviewing existing plans and stakeholder sessions.
- Map core flows and handoffs between roles, identifying where design has the biggest impact.
- Identify where AI can genuinely help, such as:
- drafting requests
- surfacing the right contract or supplier
- answering questions in plain language
- Ship a clickable prototype of the first user flows to test with operators.
Requirements
- 6–7+ years designing software products with senior-level ownership of complex, end-to-end work.
- Proven experience with data-heavy and workflow-heavy products (dashboards, tools, or enterprise software).
- Strong interaction design and UI craft.
- Ability to take messy problems to shipped screens.
- Strong communication: explain thinking in plain language.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and partnering closely with product and engineering.
- Open to using AI as a primary way you design.
- Familiarity with enterprise B2B SaaS and domains such as procurement, supply chain, or supplier management.
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated industries or utilities/energy/finance.
- Comfort designing alongside AI features (assistants, recommendations, agentic workflows).
- Experience building AI features.
Design Skills Emphasis
- Interaction and flow design for multi-role, multi-step workflows.
- Information design for dense screens (clarity, calm, hierarchy).
- Visual/UI craft (layout, consistency, hierarchy).
- Prototyping (rapid clickable tests).
- Design-system thinking (reusable patterns).
- Simplifying complexity and clearly communicating decisions.
