Senior Product Designer (Design Systems)

Role Overview

Join Thumbtack’s product design team as a Senior Product Designer (Design Systems). You’ll define how the Thumbprint design system translates into real product experiences—owning patterns, flows, component compositions, and documentation that help teams design and ship consistently at scale.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

• Define how Thumbprint becomes production-ready product experiences.
• Own patterns, flows, component compositions, and documentation.
• Design and ship reusable components with high quality standards, including:
  • clearly defined states
  • variants
  • responsive behavior
  • interaction models
• Collaborate with engineers and product partners to create engaging user experiences.
• Work with technical partners to ensure Thumbprint supports AI-driven workflows, including tools such as Claude Code, Figma MCP, and internal prototyping tools.

Requirements

• 6+ years of product design experience, including meaningful time owning or evolving a design system.
• Strong written communication skills; you produce clear, opinionated, actionable documentation.
• Deep interest in how design systems evolve in AI-driven product development.
• High craft bar for component work: polished, production-ready, designed to scale.
• Comfortable across the design-to-code workflow; experience with Storybook, design tokens, and GitHub; strong collaboration with engineers.
• Expert-level Figma skills (component architecture, variables, tokens, auto-layout).
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG AA, and a commitment to inclusive patterns/components.
• Familiarity with platform conventions across iOS, Android, and web.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience or strong understanding of AI tooling and system structures that improve how teams and tools work together (e.g., Claude Code / Figma MCP).
