Senior Product Designer (Design Systems)

Role overview

Join Sentry as a Senior Product Designer (Design Systems) and take ownership of its design system, Scraps. You’ll create and refine the design system building blocks that help product teams design and ship more consistently.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the design system to keep it coherent, accessible, and effective.
• Collaborate with product design and front-end engineers to design, spec, and refine design system components.
• Audit existing patterns to find inconsistencies and define when/how components should be used.
• Produce documentation, including usage guidelines and contribution processes, to help designers and engineers move faster with confidence.
• Apply deep design-system craft: component APIs, variant structures, and tokenization/naming conventions.

Requirements

• 5+ years designing complex software products, including meaningful experience on a design systems team at comparable scale.
• Strong fluency with Figma design systems tooling (components, variants, variables, auto layout, shared libraries, branching workflows).
• Ability to work closely with engineers on implementation details (props, states, edge cases) and understand constraints of React, CSS, and the DOM.
• Excellent consistency thinking, plus judgment to flex patterns for specific use cases.
• Strong visual and interaction design skills (spacing, hierarchy, micro-interactions).

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS, React, or Storybook.
• Contributions to open-source design systems and belief in design infrastructure as a public good.
• Comfort creating and maintaining design documentation, usage guidelines, and contribution processes.
