Senior Product Designer & Design Systems

Role Overview

Farther is hiring a Senior Product Designer (Design Systems) to build and own the company’s design system from the ground up. This foundational role will define how the product organization works by creating infrastructure for consistent, high-quality experiences delivered at speed.

Responsibilities

• Design Systems Ownership
  • Audit existing design assets and create a scalable, accessible component library in Figma
  • Build reusable components, design tokens, and detailed usage documentation
  • Own prioritization, roadmapping, and stakeholder communication for the design system
  • Define governance processes for adoption, enhancements, and deprecations
  • Partner with engineering to ensure design-to-code fidelity and correct implementation
  • Create education and onboarding to drive real adoption across teams
• Support the Design Team
  • Guide designers across advisor tools, client platforms, and mobile, ensuring design-system principles are applied consistently
  • Partner with PMs and engineers to clarify component usage, patterns, and best practices
  • Apply systems thinking to maintain consistency, accessibility, and quality across product experiences
  • Collaborate on cross-platform experiences, using the design system as the single source of truth

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience
• 3+ years leading design systems
• Expert in Figma, able to build scalable component architectures
• Strong understanding of design-to-code and cross-platform consistency
• Strategic + executional: set vision and governance, then build detailed components
• Self-directed, organized, and skilled in prioritization and stakeholder management
• Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills

Bonus / Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in fintech or regulated industries
• Familiarity with Storybook (or similar tooling)
• Background in mobile design systems (iOS/Android)
• Interest in AI tools and design automation
• Experience mentoring designers or leading adoption initiatives
