Senior Product Designer (Consumer Experience)

Role overview

Join 9amHealth as a Senior Product Designer (Consumer Experience). You will be a craft-led senior individual contributor owning the design of the consumer app and shaping the day-to-day member experience across diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the consumer app experience end-to-end, owning key aspects of user experience.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to create functional, iterative prototypes.
• Run user research to understand needs and behaviors, and translate insights into product improvements.
• Work within a full product squad to impact member outcomes (e.g., activation and sustained engagement).
• Partner with designers supporting the clinician/EMR side, leveraging the broader operational context.

Requirements

• Comfortable designing in ambiguity; can move fast with incomplete briefs and make defensible decisions.
• Strong perspective on habit formation and retention that goes beyond streaks and badges, including forgiveness mechanics, intrinsic motivation design, and progress framing.
• Strong visual and interaction point of view; authored work with clear sensibility, able to explain decisions and tradeoffs.
• Leads with craft + strategy; has owned a consumer product end-to-end and can show measurable impact (e.g., activation rate, return frequency, sustained engagement).
• Strong written communication; can defend decisions succinctly and distinguish tradeoffs from excuses.
• Can run research and turn it into product decisions (not just conducting interviews).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience shipping clinician-facing tooling or working with an internally built EMR in a digital health company.
• Ability to reason about designing consumer products that sit on top of operational systems (if EMR experience is not present).
