Senior Product Designer

Role Overview

Ashby is hiring a Senior Product Designer to help rethink how modern software is designed. The role blends design with product thinking and cross-functional execution within a principled, highly autonomous product culture.

How Design Works at Ashby

• Product teams typically include a Product Manager, a Designer, and ~4–5 engineers.
• Ashby takes a flexible approach: sometimes the designer works like a product manager, owns projects end-to-end, and provides updates; other times the focus is on equipping the team and enabling engineers/PMs to make better design decisions.
• The design department is not meant to make every decision, but to support and edit key product/design decisions while tackling the biggest design challenges themselves.

Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)

• Own meaningful product design work across high-impact areas.
• Help teams make better design decisions through principled guidance and systems thinking.
• Contribute to the design system and/or design system management (as part of a combined skillset).
• Partner closely with PMs and engineers in an IC-focused, low-meeting culture.

A core example is automating complex interview scheduling (often described as “Calendar Tetris”) while managing interviewer availability, interview load, and training/shadowing needs.
