Senior Product Designer

Role overview

Ashby is hiring a Senior Product Designer who can operate across product work and design leadership. The role is described as a blend of designer, product manager, consultant, and design systems manager—with strong emphasis on a principled, team-owned approach to product design.

How the team works

• Product teams typically include a product manager, a designer, and ~4–5 engineers.
• A PM briefs the designer, the designer designs, then mocks are handed to engineers.
• The design function aims to equip the whole product team to make better design decisions, not just to make every decision centrally.
• The environment is IC-focused, with fuzzy lines between roles and almost-no-meeting culture.

What you’ll work on / be responsible for

• Tackle major product design challenges end-to-end, especially where design overlaps with product thinking and prioritization.
• Support or own projects from start to finish when the work requires product-level ownership.
• Contribute to how Ashby designs processes and product experiences for talent/hiring workflows.
• Help improve the hiring-product experience by solving problems such as interview scheduling coordination.

Requirements

• Experience designing software products in ways that go beyond “just UI”—owning varying degrees of product responsibility as needed.
• Ability to work effectively with PMs and engineers within a lightweight, autonomy-heavy team model.
