Senior Product Designer

Role overview

You’ll be a Senior Product Designer at Ashby, working in a design-and-product environment where designers also act as product managers, consultants, and design system partners (depending on the project). The team is principled about when and how design is needed, emphasizing decisions owned by the broader product team rather than a siloed “design-only” function.

How the team works

• Typical teams: Product Manager + Designer + 4–5 Engineers
• PM briefs the designer → designer designs → engineering implements using provided mocks
• A shared approach to ownership: sometimes design means product execution and resource management, not just UI/UX.
• Design department’s focus: equip the whole product team to make better decisions and refine key design decisions.

What you’ll work on

Ashby is building talent/hiring software that improves candidate experiences and speeds up the interview process—especially workflows like recruiter coordination and final-round scheduling.

Responsibilities (implied by description)

• Lead product design work across complex hiring/talent team workflows.
• Partner closely with PMs and engineers to shape solutions end-to-end when needed.
• Contribute to and/or manage parts of the design system.
• Support the team with principled product/design decision-making and edits to PM/engineering choices.

Requirements

• Experience designing software products with enough depth to understand when design effort should be applied versus when engineering can reuse existing components.
• Ability to operate across roles: designer + product-minded ownership + collaboration with engineering and PM.
