About the role

Role overview

Senior / Principal Cloud / Data Engineer (all genders) at Synvert in Münster. You will lead and deliver complex cloud and data platform projects for enterprise customers, covering analysis, architecture, design, implementation, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Own the analysis, architecture, design, and implementation of complex cloud and data platforms
Provide technical leadership for modern cloud, hybrid, and on-premises solutions for analytics
Design and implement scalable data platforms, data warehouses, lakehouses, and modern data architectures
Advise customers on cloud strategies, architecture decisions, and technology selection
Plan and execute cloud migrations and modernization of existing data platforms
Develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs), reference architectures, and best practices for emerging technologies
Lead projects or sub-projects with responsibility for architecture and quality standards
Mentor and coach consultants and engineers; drive knowledge transfer
Run workshops, architecture reviews, and technical presentations at customer level
Support presales activities, proposal processes, and help shape the service portfolio

Requirements

University degree in a STEM field (or equivalent qualification)
Experience level:
- Senior: at least 5 years
- Principal: 8+ years in cloud/data engineering or architecture of modern data platforms
Hands-on project experience with at least one major cloud provider: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, AWS, or Google Cloud
Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or comparable solutions
Strong knowledge of data architectures and best practices (Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Lake, Data Mesh)
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment processes
Strong experience designing scalable data pipelines and processing structured and unstructured data
Proven ability to make architecture decisions, run technical reviews, and deliver complex customer projects
Strong advisory skills and confident stakeholder communication
German C1 and English B2
