About the role
Role Overview
As a Senior Platform Engineer at Tithe.ly, you will help build and maintain the systems churches depend on every day. You’ll work on cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, and platform reliability, partnering with the Platform Engineering Manager and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Operations
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and managed databases
- Keep development, staging, and production environments consistent
- Plan and execute workload migrations across cloud providers with minimal disruption
- Identify and implement infrastructure cost optimization opportunities
CI/CD & Automation
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines across a multi-repository environment
- Implement deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments
- Develop automation tooling and scripts to reduce manual work and speed delivery
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Write and maintain Terraform for multi-account, multi-environment systems
- Define IaC standards, module reuse patterns, and state management practices
- Drive infrastructure changes via version-controlled, peer-reviewed workflows
Reliability & Incident Response
- Participate in on-call and lead incident response
- Maintain observability using dashboards, alerting, logging, and SLO tracking
- Run post-incident reviews and implement long-term remediations
Security & Compliance
- Manage secrets, certificates, and access controls using least-privilege
- Apply security best practices across infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD
- Support audit and compliance efforts through documentation and access reviews
Collaboration & Documentation
- Provide infrastructure guidance and support service design with engineering teams
- Create architecture documentation, runbooks, and operational guides
- Help build self-service platform capabilities for other engineers
Requirements
Required
- 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering
- Strong AWS experience with EC2, EKS/ECS, VPC, Route 53, IAM, S3, EBS, CloudWatch
- Solid Terraform experience across multi-environment configurations
- Production experience with Kubernetes, ECS, Docker, ArgoCD, and Helm
- CI/CD pipeline design experience using GitHub Actions (or similar)
- Strong observability experience (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, New Relic)
- Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, VPNs, load balancing, VPC design)
Preferred
- Experience as a network engineer
- Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL-compatible database administration
- Experience with Google/Azure cloud and Kubernetes (or AWS) plus Terraform certification
