Senior Platform Engineer

Role overview

Join SpotOn’s Infrastructure Delivery team as a Senior Platform Engineer. You’ll build the foundational infrastructure platform for multiple products, improve developer experience, and help deploy and operate hundreds of microservices.

Key missions / responsibilities

• Design and develop tools and services that improve developer productivity, including:
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Internal Developer Platform capabilities
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify workflow pain points and implement systems that make infrastructure easier to use.
• Maintain and evolve platform engineering practices by:
  • applying software engineering best practices to infrastructure code and tooling
  • measuring and optimizing developer tooling
• Stay current with emerging technologies in developer experience and platform engineering.
• Support deployments and troubleshoot issues, including participating in on-call shifts.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a software or platform engineer
• Strong programming skills in an object-oriented language and experience building:
  • backend systems, APIs, or developer tools
• Experience with Docker or other container runtimes
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with GitOps deployment tools such as Argo CD or Flux CD
• Ability to work code and infrastructure tasks (IDE/terminal/cloud dashboards)
• On-call participation for 12-hour shifts as required
• Availability during core team hours: 9am–12pm EST
• Ability to bridge application development and infrastructure management
• Use AI in daily work (e.g., coding, document writing)

Nice to haves

• Experience with Terraform and AWS (explicitly listed as Cloud Infrastructure experience)
• Strong internal-customer mindset (seeking feedback to improve internal developer tooling)
