Senior Platform Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer on Solace’s platform engineering team, you’ll help build the infrastructure powering healthcare technology. You’ll enable product and data engineers to deploy frequently and safely, while designing safeguards for autonomous recovery and leading troubleshooting when complex failures occur.

Responsibilities

• Build out cloud infrastructure and an application platform
• Assess risk and impact of changes to live environments
• Participate in an on-call rotation
• Troubleshoot issues caused by complex interactions across technology, governance, and people
• Design and implement autonomous self-healing processes
• Support product and data engineers with platform expertise
• Communicate with stakeholders and internal platform customers

Requirements

• Experience working in a startup environment
• Experience building scalable infrastructure for hosting web applications and/or data workloads
• Deep troubleshooting skills: identify root causes across architectural and abstraction layers, independently and in teams, forming and testing hypotheses
• Fluent command line and comfortable working with Linux
• Strong communication skills
• Cloud infrastructure experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure (with GCP preferred)
• Familiarity with GitOps technologies such as Terraform
• Networking fundamentals: VPCs, subnets, routes, peering, DNS, load balancers, L4/L7 routing, NAT gateways, CDNs, TLS
• Observability: experience with tools such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry; instrumenting application code, building dashboards, and monitoring database performance
