About the role
Role: Senior Platform Engineer (Remote / Contract)
Join Verve’s DevOps team to take ownership of a growing infrastructure platform. This is a contract position with remote work available anywhere in the US (and also outside the US), with collaboration during US business hours.
Responsibilities
- Own and optimize Kubernetes clusters (GKE) at scale, including networking, autoscaling, and cost efficiency
- Design and implement infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), creating reusable patterns and enforcing standards
- Architect and improve CI/CD pipelines with a reliability/security/developer-experience focus using:
- GitHub Actions and ArgoCD
- Design and maintain Helm charts for applications/services across multiple environments
- Drive platform reliability, including scalability, availability, and disaster recovery (load balancing, auto-scaling, multi-region resilience)
- Define and implement observability standards across metrics/logging/tracing using:
- Grafana, New Relic, OpenTelemetry
- Serve as a technical lead during incidents, owning resolution for primary revenue-generating applications and contributing to post-mortems
- Mentor engineers and advise development teams on infrastructure, security standards, and platform adoption
- Participate in on-call rotation with a proactive, systems-thinking approach
Requirements
- 7+ years of platform/infrastructure/DevOps engineering experience
- Strong, hands-on Kubernetes experience in production, specifically GKE
- Strong Terraform skills (module authoring and IaC architecture, not only usage)
- Experience with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipeline design at scale
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security, specifically GCP
- Ability to work independently on complex, ambiguous problems
Nice to Have
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing platform culture
- Willingness to learn the advertising industry on the job
