Senior Platform Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will support and enhance Pondurance’s AI-driven backend systems, with a focus on delivering and maintaining the core MDR data pipeline. The role combines platform engineering (CI/CD, infrastructure, deployment systems) with backend development for the AI platform, working within a small cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Nomad
  • Deploy containerized services and AWS serverless components (e.g., Lambda)
• Develop and enhance the AI platform
• Build self-service deployment mechanisms for the platform frontend using GitHub Actions and Nomad
• Collaborate with Front-End and Operations teams to define and deliver the AI platform roadmap
• Manage configuration using Salt and HashiCorp tools
• Operate Docker-based systems to ensure reliable deployment and application uptime
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and dataflow solutions using Datadog
• Maintain uptime and functionality of the primary pipeline
• Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to improve team efficiency
• Provide secondary support to client-facing support teams for client device issues
• Participate in on-call rotations, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

• Strong experience building production systems in Python (services, APIs, or data pipelines)
• Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., GitHub Actions, Terraform)
• Ability to work in Linux environments and troubleshoot production systems
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and AWS Lambda (or equivalent)
• Strong communication and documentation skills in cross-functional settings
• Demonstrated ownership, effective prioritization, and ability to work independently
• Reliability-focused mindset to minimize client impact
• Ability to work across development (Python) and platform/infrastructure domains

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows
• Experience with container orchestration tools such as Nomad, Kubernetes, or Docker Compose
• Experience with Datadog monitoring/observability
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Salt, HashiCorp stack)
• Experience supporting production systems with on-call responsibilities
• Familiarity with Jira, Slack, and Google Workspace
