About the role
Role overview
Senior Platform Engineer joining the engineering team to shape and optimize Partnerize’s deployment architecture. This is a hands-on role with autonomy across CI/CD pipelines, automated guardrails, and migration strategies, partnering closely with TechOps and other engineering teams.
Key missions / responsibilities
- Act as a key engineering stakeholder to shape, configure, and roll out a new Kubernetes platform.
- Drive phased application migrations by containerizing and migrating workloads to Kubernetes, starting with non-critical environments.
- Use and contribute to Ansible-based deployment automation to support feature releases, following TechOps peer-review processes.
- Standardize application-level configurations and manage migration/rollout strategies.
- Build and maintain robust deployment pipelines.
- Implement application observability.
- Create developer self-service documentation (e.g., runbooks, diagrams).
- Collaborate with engineering teams, including working effectively during incidents (“on fire”).
Requirements
- Methodical and security-conscious approach.
- Experience with GitOps tooling: ArgoCD or Flux.
- Ability to deliver iteratively in a real-world environment (not perfect greenfield), planning pragmatically around constraints.
- Observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Alertmanager (or equivalents).
- Strong networking fundamentals.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; people-first, collaborative culture.
- Demonstrable Ansible experience (e.g., roles, inventories, vault, idempotency).
- Comfortable with Docker and Docker Compose in production.
- Familiarity with Helm chart authoring and management.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform (even in an on-prem context).
- Secrets management experience (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, Sealed Secrets, External Secrets Operator).
- Ability to autonomously drive outcomes and balance opinionated engineering with pragmatism.
- Strong documentation habits (runbooks, diagrams).
- Comfortable discussing technical trade-offs with software engineers, network engineers, and senior leadership.
Nice-to-haves / signals
- Experience balancing greenfield work with BAU responsibilities.
- Strong Kubernetes and Ansible experience, even if not every checklist item is met.
