Role Overview

Senior Platform Engineer (SRE) at GoodShip. You will build and evolve the internal engineering platform that helps GoodShip ship software quickly with strong reliability. Your primary “customers” are other engineers, so the focus is on developer experience, delivery automation, observability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Design the engineering platform
- Design, build, and maintain the internal platform powering engineering at GoodShip
- Build and evolve CI/CD pipelines
- Manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
- Improve deployment workflows and create self-service tooling for engineers
Improve developer experience (DX)
- Partner with engineering teams to reduce workflow friction
- Improve tooling and local development environments
- Streamline deployment processes while balancing speed, quality, and reliability
- Support AI-assisted engineering where applicable
Drive reliability and observability
- Implement monitoring and observability across the platform
- Define SLIs and SLOs, plus operational health metrics
- Build dashboards, alerting, tracing, and monitoring to improve incident response
Strengthen data reliability
- Work with product engineering to improve data accuracy, consistency, and reliability
- Add visibility into data quality and processing pipelines
- Identify and prevent data integrity issues before they affect customers
Build for scale
- Remove bottlenecks and automate manual work
- Improve engineering productivity as the org grows
- Establish platform processes and operational practices to scale efficiently

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, SRE, DevOps Engineer, or similar role
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production-quality systems
Experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads on AWS
Proven success building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines
Ability to manage infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (cut off in posting, but clearly required)
