Senior Platform Engineer

Role overview

EverOps is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to design and build internal developer platforms that customers depend on every day. The role emphasizes hands-on ownership of the “golden path” and platform tooling—from empty repo to production—rather than operating existing tools.

Mission / team

• Join a U.S.-based Virtual Operating Center and work with a team of engineers to build platforms that customer teams build on top of.
• Work across multiple facets of platform engineering and receive mentoring from an existing team with deep customer environment expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a self-service developer platform from the ground up, including:
  • software catalog
  • golden-path templates
  • developer portal experience using Backstage
• Stand up and own GitOps continuous delivery using Argo CD or Flux CD, including:
  • app-of-apps patterns
  • sync policies
  • progressive rollouts
• Build and maintain automated workflow orchestration with Argo Workflows (CI pipelines, scheduled jobs, event-driven automation)
• Architect, operate, and scale production Kubernetes environments
• Design and run load/saturation testing with k6, including reusable test templates integrated into delivery pipelines
• Implement policy enforcement and admission control with Kyverno (e.g., signed/verified container image policies)
• Use automation to operate and scale development and production environments efficiently
• Deliver new platform capabilities and continuously improve existing ones
• Participate in scrums and provide operational support / deployments for customer environments

Requirements (Core stack)

• Hands-on production experience building Backstage (catalog modeling, custom plugins, software templates, TechDocs)—not merely consuming an existing instance
• Hands-on Argo Workflows implementation for CI, batch, and event-driven automation at scale
• Hands-on GitOps delivery with Argo CD, including repo structure, sync strategy, and rollout model
• Deep production Kubernetes experience (designed, deployed, and operated clusters and platform services)
• Hands-on k6 experience creating test suites and integrating them into CI pipelines

Nice-to-haves / implied expectations

• Experience owning GitOps reconciliation loops end-to-end (from initial setup to production)
• Strong customer focus and ability to manage projects autonomously with little direction
