Senior Platform Engineer

Role Overview

Join Cozero as a Senior Platform Engineer, bridging the gap between application-level developer experience and data engineering. You’ll build automation foundations for data quality checks, lead the data platform infrastructure, and treat developer experience as a first-class, measurable product.

Key Missions

• Make Developer Experience (DevEx) a measurable discipline by tracking and improving DevEx metrics.
• Lead data platform infrastructure, including:
  • Data warehouse architecture and operational databases
  • Orchestration and ingestion pipelines
• Build an automation foundation for data quality by converting tribal knowledge into maintained, observable systems.
• Participate in on-call rotation and mentor across squads.

Responsibilities

• Own systems end-to-end, including taking responsibility from single points of failure.
• Perform knowledge transfer effectively (pairing, runbooks, shadowing, gradual ownership handover).
• Communicate in writing first (RFCs, technical documentation, decision records) while remaining able to quickly unblock via async-first and occasional direct escalation.

Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience, including 5+ years as a senior IC owning work in Developer Platform/DevEx/Data Platform.
• Have owned DevEx as a first-class product (e.g., pipelines, test infrastructure, framework upgrades, local dev flow).
• Measure and improve DevEx metrics such as:
  • Build time
  • PR turnaround
  • Flake rate
• Strong backend + data engineering fluency:
  • TypeScript / NestJS
  • Comfortable with Python
• Experience building ETL pipelines and working with warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or equivalent, especially where data correctness matters.
• AI-native engineering practice:
  • Use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent in daily workflows
  • Apply AI effectively to framework work, refactoring, and repetitive automation
• Test infrastructure depth at scale (unit vs integration vs E2E, contract testing, data fixtures, test parallelization).
• Ability to operate in ambiguity—shape a broad charter.
• Shipped data quality automation, including patterns such as:
  • Duplicate detection
  • Outlier flagging
  • Schema drift
  • Lineage
  • (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests, custom frameworks)
• Go deep on warehouse and operational DBs (e.g., Snowflake structures, dynamic tables, warehouse sizing, query cost).

Nice to Have

• Experience in climate tech, carbon accounting, or sustainability platforms.
• Prisma ORM experience at scale.
• Experience replacing a legacy analytics layer (e.g., CubeJS, Looker, Metabase) with a modern stack.
• Experience automating manual data checks into production.
• Nx (or similar monorepo tooling) experience.
