About the role

Role Overview

Join Berlitz to help design and scale a next-generation cloud infrastructure and software delivery ecosystem. As a Senior Platform & DevOps Engineer, you will own key parts of Berlitz’s internal engineering platform, creating a “paved road” that enables backend teams to deploy to production safely, rapidly, and autonomously.

Responsibilities

Greenfield cloud architecture: Architect, build, and operate secure multi-account AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Container orchestration & standardization: Optimize container orchestration layers, standardizing on AWS ECS (Fargate) for microservices and using AWS EKS (Kubernetes) for specialized/heavy workloads.
CI/CD platform: Build unified, reusable, and secure automated delivery workflows using GitHub Actions and modern deployment tooling.
Developer enablement: Act as the platform champion by providing self-service infrastructure blueprints and automated guardrails so developers can run their deployment lifecycle with less friction.
Observability & reliability: Implement telemetry, logging, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch) for deep visibility into greenfield services.
Security by design: Embed automated security checks, IAM least-privilege patterns, and secure secrets management in the core platform layer.

Requirements

5+ years hands-on experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE, with high production autonomy.
Deep production AWS knowledge: VPC, IAM, Networking, ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda and modern cloud design patterns.
Strong container expertise: Docker; hands-on with AWS ECS (Fargate); working knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS).
Advanced IaC skills with Terraform.
Strong CI/CD ecosystem knowledge: GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and artifact management.
Automation/scripting ability using Go, Python, or advanced Bash.
Excellent English communication and strong remote-first collaboration habits.

Nice-to-Haves

Experience integrating AI-assisted development workflows (Berlitz mentions building with Claude for code generation, reviews, documentation, and debugging).
