Senior Mobile SDK Engineer

Role overview

Join Canary Technologies as a Senior Mobile SDK Engineer (full remote). You will build and maintain iOS and/or Android mobile SDKs that enable hotel brands and enterprise customers to integrate Canary’s platform into their own apps, while also contributing to Canary’s first-party mobile apps.

Key missions / responsibilities

• Conceive, develop, and maintain Canary mobile SDKs (iOS and/or Android) used to power customer and staff experiences for major hotel brands
• Create high-quality developer experiences:
  • Clear API design
  • Robust examples, documentation, and upgrade paths
• Improve engineering quality through:
  • Tests and automation
  • Thoughtful modular architecture

Requirements

• Strong written communication to produce samples and documentation that make integration fast and painless
• Deep mobile fundamentals, including:
  • Networking, concurrency, persistence, security
  • Performance optimization
• Proven experience designing, shipping, and supporting public SDKs consumed by external developers
• Experience with mobile package managers and build systems, such as:
  • Swift Package Manager / CocoaPods (iOS)
  • Gradle/Maven, Xcode Cloud, fastlane, or similar CI tooling
• 5+ years building mobile applications or SDKs on iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin)
• Expertise in API design, modular architecture, semantic versioning, and backward-compatibility strategies
• Self-starter comfortable in ambiguity; partners closely with Product
• Quality mindset: unit/UI testing, automation, crash analytics, and observability
• Experience with iOS + Android or cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter, KMP)
• Backend familiarity, including Python and cloud services such as AWS
• Experience supporting enterprise customers and managing releases at scale

Nice-to-haves

• Cross-platform experience (React Native, Flutter, KMP) is explicitly valued
• Demonstrated experience with SDK release management at enterprise scale
