Senior Manager, Test Engineering

Role overview

Senior Manager, Test Engineering (Engineering Delivery – Quality & Automation) is a hands-on people and technical leadership role. You will lead a shift-left quality transformation by building and operating enterprise-scale testing platforms and enablement programs so product teams can ship with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the shift-left testing strategy across engineering (with product, platform, SRE, and security)
• Lead a test platform/enablement team (engineering managers, senior ICs, SDETs) and build high performance
• Translate reliability goals into a quality roadmap for platforms, tooling, and practices
• Define and track quality/reliability KPIs, such as:
  • defect escape rate
  • flaky test rate
  • MTTR
  • change fail rate
  • performance SLOs
• Design and evolve enterprise-scale testing platforms for:
  • API and service-level testing
  • contract and integration testing
  • UI/E2E automation (where it adds leverage)
  • performance, load, and resilience testing
• Integrate testing deeply into CI/CD with SRE/DevOps, including:
  • gating and quality thresholds
  • test orchestration and parallelization
  • environment and test-data management
• Provide self-service tooling and templates for teams using Python, Java, and Go in microservices / multi-tenant SaaS
• Partner on reliability/resilience testing:
  • performance and capacity testing
  • fault injection / chaos experiments
  • regression detection tied to SLOs and error budgets
  • integrate with observability (logs, metrics, traces) for faster triage
• Lead change management and enablement:
  • standards, playbooks, training, office hours, and communities of practice
  • coach managers and tech leads on testability and pragmatic automation
  • remove systemic blockers (environments, data, tooling, ownership, incentives)
• People and operational excellence:
  • hire, grow, and mentor managers and senior ICs
  • drive continuous improvement and blameless post-mortems
  • own platform operational health (availability, performance, cost)

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering / quality engineering
• 4+ years leading engineering teams (people management)

Nice to have / implied focus

• Experience leading test/platform or SRE/DevOps teams
• Comfort operating in high-growth, mid-maturity SaaS environments and leading cross-team adoption
