About the role
Role Overview
Senior Manager of Technical Program Management (TPM) for the Infrastructure team, leading AI Platforms initiatives across:
- Search Relevance
- Machine Learning Infrastructure (MLI)
- Search Knowledge Infrastructure (SKI)
You will partner with engineering and product teams to deliver data-driven decision making across multiple areas of Airbnb, collaborating with senior ICs and engineering directors on strategy, processes, and execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead and align cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes for AI Platforms initiatives.
- Drive requirements, execution, and stakeholder alignment with clear, measurable success criteria.
- Identify dependencies, resolve ambiguity, surface risks early, and remove roadblocks to maintain momentum.
- Shape the technical direction of projects while balancing broad outcome goals with critical technical details.
- Rapidly prototype and validate ideas using iterative development cycles informed by insights and data.
- Assess risks and opportunities and define proactive mitigation strategies.
- Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders and leadership; present trade-offs, risks, and emerging opportunities.
- Collaborate with ML engineers, infrastructure engineers, and product managers to build holistic solutions for marketplace impact.
- Help build a world-class TPM team by demonstrating hands-on ownership and clear delivery mechanisms.
Your Expertise
- 13+ years in technical program management, with at least 8 years leading.
- Robust technical background with deep understanding of technical problem spaces and the ability to drive requirements.
- Strong AI/ML expertise to resolve strategic challenges aligned with larger business goals.
Nice-to-Haves / Additional Context
- Experience collaborating across many teams (e.g., Search Infrastructure, Guest/Host Experiences, Marketing, CS, Trust).
- Demonstrated ability to present complex technical progress and trade-offs to senior leadership.
