Senior Manager, Software Engineering (United States)
Leadership role overseeing software development initiatives, engineering excellence, and scalable technology delivery for critical business products and services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software engineering teams delivering and supporting products across multiple technologies/solution areas
- Plan, guide, and control software development projects of varying scope to meet business goals and technical standards
- Oversee design, development, testing, and implementation of software solutions aligned to requirements
- Partner with Product Management to ensure features and enhancements address customer and business needs
- Evaluate project proposals and technical requirements to estimate effort and resource needs
- Prioritize engineering initiatives and allocate resources to maximize business value
- Manage production support: troubleshoot issues and coordinate timely resolution of customer/system-impacting problems
- Drive improvements in engineering processes, platform reliability, and operational efficiency
- Coach and support engineers’ professional growth (feedback, development planning, career guidance)
- Promote modern engineering practices including automation, cloud delivery, CI/CD, DevOps, and observability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, UX, Operations, and business stakeholders
- Communicate delivery status, risks, and recommendations to leadership
Requirements
- Experienced engineering leader with strong background in technology delivery and modern software development practices
- Comfortable leading distributed teams, managing complex priorities, and driving transformation
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years managing software engineering teams (hiring, coaching, performance management, workload planning)
- Proven delivery experience across multiple technologies and platforms
- Strong software development background including Java, web services, system integrations, and relational databases
- Familiarity with full-stack environments such as .NET and C# (preferred)
- Experience modernizing platforms/systems and improving engineering processes
- Strong understanding of API-first, cloud, CI/CD, DevOps, and production reliability
