Senior Manager of Software Test Engineering

Role Overview

Join Freenome as Senior Manager of Software Test Engineering (full remote). You will lead a team responsible for verifying and validating Freenome’s engineering software platform, helping ensure quality in a mission-critical, regulated healthcare context.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance to design robust software validation processes.
• Coordinate software testing within and across teams, advocating for effective test strategies.
• Support recruitment, technical staffing, and organizational design to grow and structure the testing team.
• Drive the vision and strategy for an effective Software Testing Lifecycle.

Requirements

• 3+ years in software test management, with experience structuring, growing, and optimizing a testing team.
• Expertise testing cloud applications across both backend and frontend.
• Strong communication skills to mentor engineers, build a sustainable testing culture, and partner with stakeholders.
• Experience creating software quality processes, strategies, and metrics in an Agile sprint environment.
• 8+ years in software testing and quality, including a track record delivering test automation initiatives.
• Experience with Verification & Validation (V&V) in highly governed industries (e.g., HIPAA, CAP, CLIA, SOC 2).
• Experience testing cloud-native distributed applications using container/orchestration and infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or comparable experience).

Nice to Have

• Domain experience in software as a medical device, healthcare, or related fields.
• Experience with risk management, project management, and resource planning, especially in startup environments.
• Experience with clinical interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7v2.
