Role overview
Senior Manager / Director of Engineering Strategy & Operations at Salesforce. You will lead operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, and strategic initiatives across a global engineering footprint, partnering with Platform Engineering and Finance to align engineering investments, processes, and execution with Salesforce priorities.
Key missions
- Translate strategy into operating plans: Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to turn company strategy into actionable plans, advising on priorities, trade-offs, and investment decisions.
- Program & spend management: Own program and spend management for Platform Engineering, including budget planning, forecasting, and optimization using financial and data analytics.
- Operational frameworks for better delivery: Design and implement frameworks for knowledge sharing, reusable assets, and engineering engagement playbooks to improve execution rigor, delivery predictability, and cross-cloud collaboration.
Requirements
- Software development lifecycle expertise, including Agile in fast-moving environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management in a matrixed environment.
- Ability to quickly master technical domains and emerging technologies relevant to the platforms and programs.
- Financial literacy: budgeting, P&L concepts, and managing large/complex data sets.
- 8+ years leading SaaS product development programs with knowledge of the SaaS business model and product lifecycle.
- 8+ years in engineering management, technical program management, or engineering operations in an enterprise technology environment.
- Ability to establish credibility with senior executives and influence across engineering, product, and customer organizations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach.
- Strong understanding of cloud economics and public cloud infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Azure, including software spend and emerging cost drivers (e.g., LLM usage).
- Experience with analytics and dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Background spanning strategic planning and tactical execution in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience designing and owning scalable processes that convert strategy into sustained results.
Education
- A related technical degree is required.
