Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on Workday’s Deployment Adoption Platform team, you’ll help build an AI platform aimed at reducing the cost of implementing Workday worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building an AI platform for global Workday deployment.
• Use software engineering and machine learning expertise to develop and deploy applications that use large language models (LLMs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design complex systems and manage asynchronous tasks.
• Develop agentic LLM systems where an LLM uses tools to interact with its environment.
• Architect and implement event-driven, asynchronous systems suitable for production.
• Deploy and scale machine learning models in production environments.
• Work effectively in fast-paced, Agile environments; communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide other team members.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert Python proficiency.
• Proficiency in at least one other statically typed language such as Java, Scala, Rust, or C++.
• Hands-on experience building applications with Large Language Models.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, and LangSmith.
• Experience deploying applications on a major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with agentic design patterns and tool-using LLMs.
• Demonstrated experience working with event-driven and asynchronous systems.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in ambiguity.
