Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Relevance)

Role Overview

Join Patreon as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the Relevance team. You will build machine learning systems that improve content discovery and creator–fan matching, working with cross-functional partners to ship production-ready models.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement ML solutions for search, ranking, and content relevance.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and develop proof-of-concept models to identify opportunities and assess impact.
• Train, iterate, and deploy ML models to production.
• Debug and address performance gaps in deployed systems.
• Prepare training data, monitor model performance, and improve through iteration.
• Write clear technical documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide feedback via code reviews, and incorporate feedback on models and technical approaches.

Requirements

• Strong dataset analysis skills to derive product/customer insights.
• Ability to write clean, robust production code (notably Python or other programming languages).
• Experience in an end-to-end ML environment (typically 5+ years):
  • data analysis
  • building and iterating on ML models
  • shipping to production
  • monitoring performance
  • running A/B testing
• Systematic approach to debugging complex systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience and comfort working across technical and non-technical stakeholders (implied by documentation and collaboration expectations).
