Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence)

Role Overview

Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI capabilities for Lyra Health’s platform. You will connect data science research to production-grade ML engineering, mentor engineers, and help shape the AI product roadmap.

Key Missions

• Spearhead next-generation AI capabilities including predictive analytics, NLP, and Generative AI.
• Architect robust, scalable production systems that integrate AI models into microservices.
• Ensure low latency, high availability, and optimal resource utilization.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate deep learning models.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines.
• Collaborate with backend and frontend teams.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior/mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years deploying ML/AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong engineering fundamentals with high-quality Python.
• Experience working on ML/AI based products.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., physicians, therapists, data scientists, analysts, product managers).
• Strong communication skills and ability to build consensus.
• Experience with highly sensitive data in a healthcare context.

Nice-to-Haves (from profile)

• RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solution experience.
• Setting up and maintaining vector databases.
• Defining and using Protobuf messages.
• Docker experience and deploying applications to Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational and low-latency databases.
• Celery experience.
• Production coding in Java/Kotlin.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, especially AWS.
