Senior Linux Systems Administrator & DevOps Engineer (Remote)

Role Overview

Senior Linux Systems Administrator & DevOps Engineer (Remote) for the BCW Technologies Infrastructure (BCWT-I) team. You’ll own major operational “verticals” of the infrastructure while coordinating with teammates to develop, communicate, and maintain large-scale systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and optimize Linux/Unix-based servers across cloud and physical environments.
• Operate and maintain Ubuntu/Debian-based distributions and perform deep Linux troubleshooting and tuning.
• Manage server software with preference for NGINX (Apache acceptable).
• Use containerization to run and optimize services (Docker).
• Support databases (RDBMS) and apply foundational LAN/ISP hosting knowledge.
• Perform practical scripting and automation using Python/Bash.
• Coordinate with the team to develop and maintain infrastructure at scale.

Linux/Systems Operations (examples mentioned)

• Use common system monitoring and maintenance tools: df, du, htop, tmux
• Apply strong knowledge of memory management and relevant command flags/modules.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in systems administration and/or DevOps.
• Very high proficiency in Linux/Unix and platform operations.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking.
• Intermediate Python/Bash scripting.
• Intermediate systems engineering capability.
• Demonstrated project management skills (e.g., Jira).
• Intermediate containerization (Docker).

• Certifications and education in additional platforms/practices
