Role: Senior Legal Counsel

Remote role supporting international travel product and platform legal work.

Responsibilities

• Commercial contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and public-facing legal documentation supporting business operations, growth, and risk management.
• Contract frameworks & risk: Structure contractual frameworks, identify legal/commercial risks, and propose practical, business-oriented solutions.
• Product & business support: Support design and launch of travel products, booking flows, payment solutions, and commercial models across multiple jurisdictions.
• Customer-facing legal guidance: Advise on booking flows, ancillary products, customer journeys, and cancellation/refund mechanics from a legal and regulatory perspective.
• Cross-functional compliance: Partner with cross-functional teams to design compliant business, contractual, and payment flows.
• International expansion: Support market entry and expansion initiatives, including local regulatory assessments and implementation of new business models.
• Regulatory, payments & expansion monitoring: Monitor legal/regulatory developments across jurisdictions and assess impact.
• Regulatory domains: Advise on requirements for online travel businesses, including consumer protection, e-commerce, travel regulation, package travel, intermediary liability, payment regulation, digital platform regulation, and relevant privacy laws.
• Payments & merchant models: Advise on payment flows, merchant models, PSP integrations, and regulatory implications of international payment structures.
• Regulatory implementation: Lead implementation of regulatory changes and manage external counsel across jurisdictions; translate local advice into scalable business solutions.

Requirements

• Qualified to practice law in England & Wales, the United States, or an EU Member State.
• 7+ years post-qualification experience, including substantial in-house legal experience for international consumer technology, digital platform, or travel technology businesses across EU/UK/US.
• Strong in-house experience supporting an Online Travel Agency (OTA), bedbank, travel marketplace, travel distribution platform, or travel technology business operating internationally.
• Strong international contracting experience across common law and civil law jurisdictions and cross-border commercial matters.
• Deep understanding of EU, UK, and US legal/regulatory frameworks relevant to online travel (consumer protection, e-commerce, package travel, intermediary liability, payments, digital platform regulation, privacy).
• Experience supporting commercial/product legal matters across multiple European jurisdictions (including common-law and civil-law systems) and North America.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex international legal matters and coordinate external counsel across jurisdictions.
• Strong project management skills; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive implementation.
• Ability to assess, communicate, and mitigate legal risks in a practical, business-oriented way.
