About the role

Role Overview

Join Veeam’s growing legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel (Contracts). You will support the company’s global sales organization by delivering pragmatic legal advice and managing legal, regulatory, and commercial risks across complex customer negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

Trusted adviser to business stakeholders, helping navigate complex customer negotiations while exercising sound risk judgment.
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- SaaS and BaaS agreements
- Software and professional services agreements
- Channel agreements (e.g., aggregator, reseller, and GSI relationships)
- NDAs
Provide practical, commercially focused legal guidance to Sales and business teams, including:
- Identifying, communicating, and managing material legal, regulatory, privacy/data protection, and commercial risks.

Requirements

Excellent drafting, contract review, and negotiation skills.
Experience supporting sales organizations and working closely with commercial stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to advise in a practical, succinct, commercially focused manner.
Extensive experience negotiating complex customer and partner agreements.
Strong commercial contracts background, ideally in a software / SaaS / cloud technology (or broader technology) company.
Experience advising on privacy and data protection issues in commercial technology transactions, including requirements related to processing, transfer, storage, and protection of data.
Qualified lawyer with 10–15+ years post-qualification experience, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department with significant in-house experience.
Strong commercial judgment; able to assess risk proportionately, challenge assumptions, and drive constructive discussions.
Proactive ownership of complex matters end-to-end.
Strong organizational skills to manage high volume and competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills, including explaining complex legal concepts and delivering accessible practical advice.

Nice to Haves

Comfortable making risk-based decisions even when there is no clear precedent or established playbook.
