About the role

Role Overview

Join Coupa as a Senior Lead Software Engineer in a hands-on position with high ownership and technical depth. You will work on challenging data problems, improving latency, reliability, and performance as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, high-throughput data ingestion systems integrating internal and external data across domains.
Build and evolve a centralized data lake using Apache Iceberg (or similar table formats) in multi-cloud environments.
Create core components of the data platform, and contribute to the Semantic layer.
Provide technical leadership while staying hands-on through:
- Mentorship
- Code reviews
- Design discussions
Operate and improve large-scale data pipelines in production.

Requirements

Experience with modern data warehouses: Databricks, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
Strong knowledge of scalable data ingestion patterns at scale, including CDC, and how to model/store data for fast retrieval.
Hands-on experience with cloud data services in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience with query engines such as Presto or Trino.
8–10+ years in software/platform engineering focused on scalable data and analytics platforms.
Familiarity with lakehouse architectures and table formats such as Iceberg or Delta Lake.
Strong Python and SQL skills for production-quality, maintainable, testable code.
Familiarity with data governance, lineage, metadata/cataloging, and data quality practices.

Nice to Have

Exposure to semantic layers, metrics frameworks, or BI-friendly data modeling.
Experience supporting analytics or AI/ML workloads.
