Senior Lead Applied Data Scientist

Role overview

StyleSeat is hiring a Senior/Lead Applied Data Scientist to work 100% remotely (for U.S.-based candidates only, with some state restrictions). The role is product-minded and AI-native, operating like a mini-founder: identify opportunities, build and validate solutions, and drive measurable business impact end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end ownership of Search, Recommendations, and Personalization.
• Improve ranking, relevance, and discovery across the marketplace.
• Drive measurable lift in core metrics including Booking Conversion Rate (CVR), rebooking, and engagement.
• Create and execute a personal roadmap—identify opportunities independently and prioritize by business impact.
• Rapidly prototype and push ideas into live experimentation.
• Design, analyze, and iterate based on A/B tests and real business outcomes.
• Partner with Product and Engineering while independently defining and shipping your roadmap.

Requirements

• Strong applied data science skills with product/marketplace focus.
• Ability to execute end-to-end: identify → prototype → experiment → productionize → measure/iterate.
• Experience with experimentation, particularly A/B testing.
• Demonstrated ability to influence business KPIs (e.g., conversion, engagement).
• Works effectively in cross-functional partnerships with Product and Engineering.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using AI tools to accelerate experimentation and development.
• Deep experience improving search, recommendations, and personalization systems.
