About the role

Role Overview

Senior API Designer (Java/Spring Boot) for a remote (EST) engagement supporting a banking client’s debit card processing conversion from a homegrown system to a new platform. Duration is 18–24 months. The role focuses on API design, development, and system integration for a mission-critical banking transformation.

Responsibilities

Assist with API design and API build-out to enable seamless system integration and reliable data flows
Develop and optimize solutions using Java and Spring Boot
Troubleshoot and enhance middleware interactions with 30+ banking applications
Support system integration and ensure smooth end-to-end processing

Required Skills

Senior-level Java and Spring Boot expertise
Java 17 and Spring Boot 3.x
API development experience
Banking system integration experience (e.g., Payments/Cards; Fiserv preferred)
SQL database experience
DevOps/deployment experience: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.
Messaging: Kafka or RabbitMQ
End-to-end SDLC with minimal guidance
Agile experience using Jira / Confluence
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
