Senior Java Backend Developer (m/w/d)

Role overview

Senior Java Backend Developer (m/w/d) for the Customer Cluster Healthcare at virtual7 GmbH. You will develop and evolve secure, stable, and future-ready backend solutions for complex applications in the environment of statutory health insurance (GKV).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain modern backend applications using Java and Spring / Spring Boot
• Design, implement, and integrate REST interfaces
• Translate complex domain requirements in GKV into reliable software
• Build performant, maintainable solutions considering quality and security requirements
• Work with SQL and DB2 to manage and process domain data
• Analyze, optimize, and improve existing applications and components
• Create automated tests and ensure overall software quality
• Coordinate technically with subject matter experts, engineering teams, and other stakeholders
• Write and maintain technical documentation

Requirements

• Several years of backend experience with Java and Spring / Spring Boot
• Strong experience implementing and integrating REST web services and relational databases
• Experience in the statutory health insurance (GKV) domain
• Understanding of software quality, IT security, and Clean Code principles
• Analytical and structured working style with strong problem-solving skills
• German C2 proficiency (spoken and written)

Nice to have

• Experience with Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Knowledge of Kafka, Liquibase, and modern testing frameworks
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as FHIR
• Experience with agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban
