Senior Java Backend Developer (m/w/d)

Role overview

You will work as a Senior Java Backend Developer (m/w/d) on challenging IT projects in the context of statutory health insurance (GKV). The focus is on building and evolving modern backend solutions and implementing complex domain requirements related to service providers and related claims.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring / Spring Boot
• Design and implement REST web services, integrating them into existing system landscapes
• Translate and implement complex requirements from the GKV (health insurance) domain
• Work with SQL and DB2 to process and manage relevant data
• Analyze existing components and continuously improve/optimize them
• Create, execute, and document developer and integration tests
• Coordinate technically with project stakeholders and adjacent teams
• Create and maintain technical documentation

Requirements

• Multiple years of experience in Java backend development
• Very good knowledge of Spring / Spring Boot
• Experience with REST web services, SQL, and DB2
• Experience in the GKV domain, ideally with LRB, ELW, or EEL
• Ability to develop secure and reliable software and work with sensitive patient data
• Structured, solution-oriented working style and understanding of complex technical and business contexts
• Excellent German (C2)

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Knowledge of Kafka, Liquibase, and testing tools such as Cucumber or JMeter
• Familiarity with FHIR and modern healthcare standards
