Senior iOS Engineer, Neighborhoods

Role overview

You’ll be a Senior iOS Engineer on Square’s Neighborhoods team, a new network between Cash App and Square that helps local businesses offer online ordering through a mobile app experience. You’ll shape technical direction, stay hands-on with iOS implementation, and help connect customer discovery in Cash App with seller ordering and fulfillment in Square Point of Sale.

Responsibilities

• Lead major Neighborhoods mobile workstreams across Cash App and Square Point of Sale.
• Drive cross-team architecture and execution to deliver seamless integration of loyalty, marketing, and ordering features.
• Shape mobile systems connecting customer discovery (Cash App) to seller ordering and fulfillment (Square Point of Sale).
• Stay hands-on in iOS development using SwiftUI and related technologies.
• Partner with backend, web, and Android engineers to ship high-quality features.
• Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical bar; focus on reliability, scalability, and craft.
• Work with product managers and designers to define scope, sequence ambiguous work, and manage technical/product tradeoffs.
• Act as an AI-native product engineer by using AI tools to accelerate development (e.g., prototyping, tests, observability) and improve documentation.

Requirements

• Strong iOS engineering background with hands-on capability across modern iOS stacks.
• Ability to lead architecture/execution across multiple teams and organizational boundaries.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and design partners.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working across both Cash App and Square Point of Sale-style ecosystems.
• Familiarity with using AI tooling as part of the engineering workflow (prototyping, test generation, observability, documentation).
