About the role

Role Overview

Axion Ray is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (hands-on) to design and scale the company’s cloud infrastructure. You will build foundational DevOps systems, partner with engineering leadership, and help product teams ship faster with confidence.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Automate deployment workflows and improve developer tooling for faster delivery
Ensure system reliability and security
Establish and maintain observability across the stack (logging, metrics, alerting, tracing)
Lead incident response efforts
Drive infrastructure decisions in collaboration with engineering leadership

Requirements

Strong background in observability tooling (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
Strong proficiency with Kubernetes (cluster management, networking, scaling, troubleshooting)
Solid Terraform experience (modular, reusable, production-grade IaC)
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling
4+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
Deep hands-on experience with GCP, including services such as:
- Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub (or similar)
Must be based in Eastern or Central time zones

Nice-to-Haves

Experience using agents to accelerate delivery
Experience managing infrastructure for FedRAMP environments
Experience at a venture-backed startup
