About the role
Role Overview
Senior Golang Developer to design and implement low-latency services for trading infrastructure and market data processing.
Responsibilities
- Build low-latency Go services for order routing and real-time market data ingestion.
- Develop and optimize high-throughput data pipelines.
- Implement lock-free / wait-free data structures and concurrency primitives for performance-critical execution.
- Engineer systems with deterministic execution to minimize latency variance and tail latency.
- Design and maintain distributed coordination systems using consensus protocols (e.g., Raft/Paxos) when needed.
- Create or optimize networking stacks / RPC frameworks for trading workloads.
- Work closely with Linux internals and performance tuning, including:
- Syscalls, CPU pinning, NUMA optimization
- Kernel bypass techniques (e.g., DPDK, Solarflare Onload)
- Use performance tooling such as perf, eBPF, flame graphs, and hardware counters.
- Debug production systems under live trading conditions, ensuring stability and performance.
- Collaborate with quants and traders to align system behavior with strategy requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in systems engineering or low-latency infrastructure.
- 8+ years of production experience with Go.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Concurrency and synchronization
- Memory models and allocation behavior
- High-performance system design
- Hands-on expertise with lock-free programming and atomic operations.
- Experience building real-time / low-latency systems (trading/networking or similar).
- Strong Linux internals and performance tuning.
- Networking knowledge: TCP/UDP, multicast, and low-latency pipelines.
- Profiling/debugging experience.
- Exposure to high-frequency trading / market microstructure.
- Experience with kernel bypass networking (e.g., DPDK, Solarflare) and RDMA / high-speed networking.
- Familiarity with exchange protocols (e.g., FIX, binary feeds) and market data normalization pipelines.
- Experience contributing to systems like Kubernetes / etcd.
- Ability optimizing for cache locality, NUMA, and CPU microarchitecture.
Location / Work Setup
- Chicago, Illinois (initially remote)
- Full-time employment
