About the role

Role overview

Senior Fullstack Software Engineer at Affirm (remote-first), helping build the foundational platform for launching products into new international markets. You will work on purchase protection capabilities, including disputes and refunds, collaborating across global and European engineering teams.

Key missions

Design, develop, and launch large-scale backend systems using modern cloud and database technologies (Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
Collaborate with European and global engineering teams to build coherent, scalable solutions focused on purchase protection (disputes and refunds).
Own and deliver the team’s quarterly goals, guiding engineers through ambiguity to resolve open issues.
Support the product development lifecycle and improve engineering processes.
Foster a culture of quality and ownership.

Requirements

Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across global engineering teams.
Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
Ability to define technical plans for delivering major features/systems with elegant, simple, extensible designs.
4+ years of software engineering experience.
Proven ability to make significant changes in a large codebase and develop tools/practices to do so safely.
Demonstrated ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
