Senior Fullstack Engineer - Typescript

Role Overview

Senior Full Stack Engineer at Topstep working on the distributed systems behind the trader experience. You will evolve the architecture supporting payments and purchasing, building cloud-native, event-driven services that are reliable, scalable, and observable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud-native applications with a focus on reliability, safe deployments, and operational simplicity
• Embed automated testing, observability (metrics/logging/tracing), and operational ownership into feature delivery
• Proactively identify and resolve issues to keep the platform stable and performant
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to champion event-driven best practices and deliver resilient, scalable solutions
• Influence and define coding standards and engineering patterns across teams

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production-grade systems with user-facing APIs; demonstrated impact on scalability and reliability
• Strong full-stack foundation:
  • Backend API design with TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST
  • Modern frontend development with React and Next.js
• Deep expertise in scalable distributed systems including:
  • event-driven architectures, message queues
  • eventual consistency
  • race condition handling
  • focus on performance, security, and maintainability
• Strong database fundamentals with PostgreSQL or SQL Server (schema design, migrations, indexing, query optimization)
• Production mindset: metrics, logging, tracing, and end-to-end delivery ownership (including on-call)
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
